AWAKENING :: 1990 - Summer 1992
Suddenly, as if by magic, underground raves sprouted up all over Southern California. We awoke to a changed musicscape: massive speaker stacks booming with house music and breakbeat techno. Masses of eclectic strangers were all pulsing to the same rhythm and discovering a joyous, healing unity. A new era opened before our eyes and ears.
We drove to warehouses, Masonic Temples, Indian Reservations, and water parks in a seemingly endless adventure. And we rarely knew where we would end up. From flyers we called the info line; from the info line we got the map point; from the map point we finally got directions to the "secret" location. From all walks of life, we came together to experience the birth of Rave culture in Southern California.
